Imagine for a moment that you are shuffling down a road between two towering dunes, with colourful bamboo flags flying left and right. In the background you hear music and the breaking of waves. Down at the foot of the dunes, the icing on the cake awaits you. Three stages of music, delicious food trucks with veggie & vegan food and all that with your feet in the sand. Welcome, you’re in surfer’s paradise!

Once a year the Surfana Festival takes place in the Dutch national park, the Kennemerduinen. Surf minded people from all over the world come together for a unique mix of music, clinics, food, art and love.

Music and workshops

Surfana stands for freedom and is a wonderful mixture of surfers, outdoor lovers, dreamers, modern hippies or anyone who can enjoy themselves. With or without children, everyone is welcome! Surfana Surfschool was founded in 2008 by Lars van der Veen and Maarten Zwetsloot. Two passionate surfers who wanted to share their love for the sport with others. In 2011 they started the Surfana Festival, a clever way to establish their surf school as a brand.

A weekend with bands from all over the world, surf oriented, a range of workshops – movies, art, good food and camp vibes to enjoy in a beautiful natural environment. Surfana offers 50 kinds of clinics. These are creative ways to have a new experience like wave surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing but also Afro-yoga, floating on sound waves, blinded wine tasting, discovering the meaning of your dreams or learning everything about edible plants.

Ecological festival

Good vibes & good food while you chill in your hammock and enjoy the sunset. Surfana aims to be a zero waste festival. For example, plates of compostable material are used and hard cups with a deposit are used. The festival also works with décor made of completely recycled wood in cooperation with a company that employs young people with a distance to the labour market.

Vega(n) food is high on the menu during Surfana and every year there are food trucks with a surprisingly crazy offer of healthy, organic and delicious. Water is free during the Surfana Festival. Just bring your own water bottle.

Surfana Festival is located at Camping de Lakens in the middle of the dunes, right next to the sea. Far enough away from any civilisation to feel like you’re totally in the wild. Situated in the midst of the Kennemerduinen National Park it’s also quite likely you’ll see a number of wild animals roaming around.

For those who want the full festival experience there is the possibility to stay overnight. After a hard day of surfing and partying you can even go to the sauna or have a nice massage, it’s all possible. Surfana offers different types of accommodations, but the best way is of course a FestiTent. The tent is ready for you upon arrival, the only thing you have to do is take off your shoes and enjoy!

Arriving and checking in at the campsite is possible between the following hours:

Thursday September 7th – 16:00 – 22:00
Friday September 8th – 09:00 – 22:00
Saturday September 9th – 09:00 – 22:00
Sunday September 10th – 09:00 – 21:00

Monday September 11th the campsite will close at 10:00.

Make sure you’re packed up and heading home before that time!
This means that for the weekenders, you are allowed to sleep over from Sunday-Monday as well! Better tell your boss you’ll be late on Monday!

FestiTent voucher

After your booking you will receive an email as payment confirmation. Our Guest Support will check and confirm your booking. You will then receive an email with your FestiTent voucher. This voucher only gives you access to your FestiTent, not to the festival or the campsite. The entrance ticket to the campsite must be purchased separately in the ticket shop of the festival.

Is your spam filter stronger than our vouchers? No problem, you can download your voucher straight from the FestiTent Guest Center.

A few days before you travel to the festival, you will receive an email from us with additional information about the location and check-in.

Check-In

After entering the campsite, proceed to the FestiTent reception. Our hosts will be waiting for you and guide you to your FestiTent. You can check in by handing in your voucher. If you have lost your voucher (your dog ate it, your printer ran out of ink just when you tried to print it or your phone ran out of power) we will find your name in our check-in system. No worries! During the check-in we will check if your FestiTent is damage free and fill in a check-in form together.

Check-Out

Come over to the FestiTent reception when you want to check out. We will check together if your FestiTent was not damaged during the weekend. If everything is ok, your deposit will be refunded the day after. From then it’s out of our hands. Depending on your payment method it can take several weeks before you will see it appear on your account.
